Meet Matilda - 2024 Intern

As we rejoice in reaching the milestone of 100 interns, we’re excited to highlight some of our inspiring current interns. Meet Matilda, from our 2024 summer cohort!

“The thing that inspired me to join the internship was my career choice,” Matilda shares. She aims to gain as much experience as possible to set herself up for success in the future.

One of her most memorable experiences was attending the DREAM conference at the University of Portland. “I talked to people about Project Lemonade and our internship program, which helped me develop my communication and presentation skills,” she reflects.

Starting out as a shopper, Matilda quickly learned the dedication it takes to run the store. “The time, effort, and love everyone puts into it is truly inspiring. I never realized how much goes on behind the scenes,” she explains. She emphasizes the importance of giving every child the best experience possible, noting their diverse backgrounds and experiences. “It’s important to always have a smile and provide support.”

Her biggest takeaway from the internship has been the experience gained through working with different people and taking on her first summer responsibilities.

For future interns, Matilda advises, “Never take things personally. Accept criticism and make mistakes, but don’t dwell on them. It’s a learning experience. Making mistakes is okay!”
